Debra St. Claire started an organic candy company for two reasons.
First, the mints that she was eating contained ingredients that she didn't want to consume.
Second, she had her eye on some land she didn't have the money to buy.
St. Claire used to be an Altoids aficionado, but she discovered that they contained beef gelatin.
``I was a vegetarian at the time,'' she says. ``I didn't realize that peppermints could have animal products.'' So St. Claire, who has made a study of herbs, started a company called EcoNatural Solutions, which makes St. Claire's Organic Sweets.
