Center fielder Ellis Burks will start today, returning to the Colorado Rockies lineup for the first time since June 26. The Rockies activated Burks on Tuesday and optioned outfielder Angel Echevarria to Class AAA Colorado Springs.
Burks went on the disabled list June 29 with a strained right groin. Rehabilitation and therapy notwithstanding, Burks must test the groin in game situations, plenty of which are certain to arise in the field and on the bases.
