If you're willing to take a short drive and maybe spend a few dollars, you can leave the 20th century behind and step into the past.
Historical re-creations and ``living history'' exhibits have become a big attraction around the metro area, with five major sites operating from Evergreen to Aurora and a new one set to open soon in Golden.
You can ride a stagecoach in Denver, visit a sod house in Aurora, hear tales from an Arvada ghost, meditate in a historical chapel in Hiwan or talk about the news of the day (as long as it's a day in 1869) with a blacksmith in Littleton.
