LONDON -- When Reuters photographer Dan Eldon was beaten to death by a Somali mob at the age of 22, the only mementos his mother could retrieve were the journals charting his short life.
Armed with the 17 dusty tomes, Kathy Eldon set out to keep her son's spirit alive and somehow use his death as a force for good. Now her efforts look set to guarantee that he will be better known in death than he ever was in life.
Eldon turned the wildly intricate collages, memorabilia and colored paintings into a book charting the path that ultimately led her son to his death on July 12, 1993.
