WESTFIELD, N.Y. -- It's been no secret among winemakers like William Merritt that red wine is good for the soul. It's taken studies showing it may be good for the heart and brain, too, for some others to warm up to it.
``For years, the industry has had an oversupply of red wine. It goes back decades,'' said Merritt, who owns a small winery in western New York's rolling wine country. ``For 20 years we were drowning in a sea of red wine. Everyone was.''
