Two decades ago, Denver had a television sportscaster named Starr and a weatherman named Stormy, and the National Western Stock Show was considered must-see entertainment.
So was the football team, which didn't help Denver's cowtown phobia.
At that time, the Denver Broncos were best known for their pumpkin-colored jerseys, vertically striped socks that had to be sacrificed in a public bonfire, a cheapskate general manager who wrestled fans in the stands for loose balls and 14 non-winning seasons in their first 14 years.
Well, now the cows, er chickens, have come home to roost.
