There sat the top-of-the-fold headline on the front page of The New York Times last week: ``Successful Births Reported With Frozen Human Eggs.'' Yet another giant advance in the field of human fertility, setting, I am sure, female (and male) hearts aflutter across the country, rife with the hope of producing clones of themselves in the not-too-distant future.
From this writer, it triggered quite a different reaction: One cyclopean advancement for the already-robust fertility industry, one elephantine step backward for mankind.
