CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The parking spot is unoccupied day and night, an ignored piece of prime real estate a short walk from the Dean E. Smith Center. There is no hint of its significance in one of the most carefully scrutinized transitions in the history of college basketball, just an unchallenged reminder:
RESERVED AT ALL TIMES.
``Dean doesn't want to park there,'' said Bill Guthridge, the new head coach for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, ``and I don't want to park there. I'd like for him to park there. After all, the building's named after him.''
