When pianist Chick Corea and vibraphonist Gary Burton take the stage at the Boulder Theater at 8 p.m. today, there should be little question as to why these two players have moved out in front of the musical pack.
Corea, who was born in Chelsea, Mass., 56 years ago, is one of the leading keyboard figures of his generation. Burton, out of Indiana and a fixture on the Boston scene since his school days at the Berklee College of Music, is among the most stylistically innovative players ever to stand before the vibes.
