Actress Fatma Rushdy, considered by many to be the "Sarah Bernhardt of the East," died Tuesday in Egypt of a heart attack. She was 88.
Rushdy played in many theatrical productions and Egyptian films. Her acting drew comparisons to Bernhardt, a French actress who gained fame around the turn of the century.
