THORNTON -- Centaurus treated Saturday's Thornton Invitational wrestling tournament as if it were a dual meet.
The defending Class 5A state champion, frustrated by dual-meet losses the past two weeks to Grand Junction Central and Alamosa, placed nine of its 14 wrestlers in the grand finals - matches pitting the two division winners in each weight class.
The Warriors finished first in the white division with 243 1/2 points and went on to the grand finals championship with 116 points in the 16-team tournament.
