William G. Purdy of Golden, a pioneer in rocketry and space flight, has died at age 78.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the auditorium of St. Anthony Hospital Central. Mr. Purdy died Feb. 14 of complications of Parkinson's disease after 14 months of illness.
``In so may ways it was the best of times for us,'' said Diana Lee, his wife.
``To him (his disease) was not a setback, it was not a limitation, it was an opportunity to do better.''
Mr. Purdy, born Sept. 19, 1917, in Harris, Mo., graduated from the University of Missouri in 1941. He began his career ...
