Denver Public Schools are on the verge of a new era of neighborhood schools that appears full of promise and peril.
``Just because it's a neighborhood school doesn't guarantee anything,'' said Loyola Martinez, principal of Kaiser Elementary in southwest Denver.
Kaiser became a neighborhood school last fall after ending a 21-year busing relationship with Smedley in the northwest. The inaugural year has gone well, she said, but ``other schools may not be as lucky as we were.''
