There was a swing, hard contact and a pause. For an instant, Jeff Reed watched the flight of the ball, savoring a home run Monday on his first Coors Field at-bat as a member of the Colorado Rockies.
This wasn't Reggie Jackson or Barry Bonds waiting . . . waiting
. . . and waiting some more before finally leaving the batter's box. And Reed, who has 21 lifetime homers, didn't do anything theatrical like nonchalantly flip his bat the way Tom Lawless did when he homered for St. Louis off Minnesota's Frank Viola in the 1987 World Series.
