On June 22, 1988, a two-year joint investigation conducted by the United States Customs Service, Newark Area, and DEA/NJ, culminated in the seizure of a $10 million cargo ship, the M/V Multan, when approximately 18 lbs. of heroin was discovered onboard the vessel.
