The former chairman of the Dr Pepper / Seven-Up Corp. on Monday created the first public-private venture into gene research that eventually could lead to products for treating schizophrenia.
John Albers, who retired from the beverage industry in April 1995 when Dr Pepper / Seven-Up was sold to Cadbury Schweppes, announced a $3 million three-year agreement with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
