SAN ANTONIO -- For more than a century, doctors observed that when part of the brain known as the cerebellum was damaged by a bullet or tumor, a patient's movements became jerky and difficult.
From those observations came the presumption that the cerebellum - a large, distinct structure nestled beneath the main part of the brain - was the control center for movement, or motor skills.
But a new study by researchers in San Antonio and California may be turning that notion upside down.
