RICHMOND, Va. - Cory Carr's three-point baskets spurred two key runs and Texas Tech extended the nation's longest winning streak with a 74-73 victory over Northern Illinois on Friday night in the NCAA East Regional.
Jason Sasser scored 21 points and snagged seven rebounds, and Carr added 11 points as the third-seeded Red Raiders (29-1) claimed their 22nd straight victory by holding off a late Northern Illinois rally. The win was Texas Tech's first in the NCAA Tournament in 20 years.
Chris Coleman scored 24 of his 28 points in the second half to lead Northern Illinois (20-10).
