During the Colorado Rockies' recent, nightmarish trip, slumping Andres Galarraga and Ellis Burks were left out of the lineup for one game, and Larry Walker sat out three games.
Manager Don Baylor was hoping a little rest would take care of their tired bats.
It didn't work.
But it's not likely Baylor will try that again - at least not in the next 10 days. Not with the Rockies opening a 10-game homestand that begins tonight (7, KWGN-Channel 2) with the first of a three-game series with St. Louis and includes three-game visits by Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
