HARDIN, Mont. -- Tensions are rising near the Little Bighorn battlefield as the Crow Tribe threatens to seize businesses refusing to pay a 4% resort tax imposed by the Tribal Council.
``Over the past 10 years, the real profiteers have been the resorts - bed and breakfasts, hunting and fishing shops, museums and such,'' said tribal tax commissioner Denis Adams.
``There are 60 to 70 businesses scattered throughout our 2-million-acre reservation, and we can't keep up with the burden without financial support.''
He said about 80% of the 8,000 people living on the reservation are American Indians.
