Mighty Aphrodite is Woody Allen's best film in a decade.
You can argue that he's written funnier material, that his earlier films have been lighter, darker or just about anything else. But Allen alone is the master of the urban comedy, a genre given to exploring the neuroses of people who live and work in big cities. Only, his is a satiric empathy raised to the level of fine art.
To begin with, Mighty Aphrodite is immediately accessible. How could it not be when the central conceit concerns two urbanites (Allen, ...
