As in all Cretan palaces, huge clay jars were used to store such products as grain, wine, and oil.
ONE OF THE easiest ways to imagine what life was like for the Minoans is to study a plan of the great royal palace at Knossos.
First, notice the immense size. The palace extends over three acres. When outlying structures and houses--few of which are small--are included, the site covers about six acres. While many of our buildings are just as large, the Minoans constructed theirs not with machinery but with sweat and collective labor (people working together as a group).
