NEW YORK -- Americans are returning to international stock mutual funds at the fastest rate in history.
A net $15.4 billion poured into funds investing in equities markets outside the U.S. in the first four months of 1996, the Investment Company Institute reported last week. That's more than all of last year combined and the highest level since the ICI began tracking flows in the early 1970s.
U.S. stock funds remain the most popular investment, with a net $77.2 billion poured into domestic stock funds in the first four months of 1996, the ICI reported.
