Investors flooded the stock market today, searching for bargains and kicking off a seesaw day of trading on Wall Street.

At 12:30 p.m., the Dow Jones industrial average was up more than 100 points to 7,267.24.

The shopping spree began shortly after the markets opened, as the Dow dropped 178 points. But by 10:30, the Dow was back into positive territory, as the 30-blue chip stock indicator was up more than 40 points.

Investors shrugged off Monday's Dow plunge of 554 points, the largest point-drop ever. Percentage-wise, it was a drop of about 7.1 percent.
