Now mathematically eliminated from the Conference USA title, the University of Cincinnati football team also is practically eliminated from bowl contention.
Now 6-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference, the Bearcats would need to win their final two games and to buck history to extend their season past their scheduled finale at East Carolina on Nov. 13.
UC was denied a bowl bid after finishing 8-3 in 1993. The Bearcats can be a tough pick for bowls, whose host cities prefer teams that bring bigger crowds with them and help tourism.
