Those were the glamour names among the 15 men who gathered with their wives Thursday night at Western Hills Country Club to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the days they stood alone atop the world of American Legion baseball.
And their trip down memory lane stopped to recall teammates and coaches, famous athletes and movie stars.
Only one of the 16 players on that 1947 Bentley Post American Legion national championship team was missing. Left-handed pitcher Ed Garrett, a former batboy with the Reds, died several years ago.
