Sara Abbott never thought she would need help from a United Way agency.
As an international customer-service and logistics representative for Procter & Gamble, her only real exposure to United Way came when it sought donations from P&G employees during an annual fall fund drive.
''Every fall it's just, 'here's United Way and we're supposed to give as a P&G employee,' '' she said.
Ms. Abbott's perception of United Way changed dramatically after she became a recipient of assistance from the American Red Cross, a United Way-supported agency. Now, she's helping United Way show people how ...
