A group of 26 banks, thrifts and credit unions have united to do away with surcharges on their automated teller machines.
The no-fee policy applies at the group's 80 ATMs - both Jeanie and Mac - in Greater Cincinnati.
ATM surcharges have been a hot issue since last spring when banks began imposing them on noncustomers who use their machines. The surcharges, which are paid to the bank operating the ATM, are in addition to any fees customers pay for using another bank's machine.
The surcharges range from 50 cents to $3 depending on location and the ATM operator.
