The St. Luke Hospitals ended an era Thursday when administrator John Hoyle said his last goodbye, locked up his office and closed a 29-year career of hospital leadership.
His retirement officially starts on Monday, but Hoyle is away at a seminar today.
He spent Thursday at St. Luke Hospitals East and West, standing at the head of a one-man receiving line as employees, co-workers and former employees stood for hours to shake his hand.
''I truly believe he has absolutely loved what he has done,'' said Nancy Gibson, director of patient services at St. Luke. ''In the emergency ...
