FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Pressure defense and three-point shooting were a successful combination for the Boone County girls' basketball team this season.
The Rebels averaged 62 points per game and gave up only 39 by incorporating both of those elements into their game plan.
But neither one worked very well Friday when Lexington Paul Dunbar defeated Boone County, 53-45, in the quarterfinals of the girls' state basketball tournament.
The Rebels made only 4 of 23 three-point shots and scored only 9 points off 13 Dunbar turnovers in the season-ending loss.
