Fans of the British Isles may enjoy some Scotch eggs updated with turkey sausage. This makes the traditional pub food a tad lower in fat grams.

According to the classic preparation, hard-cooked eggs are encased in a spicy sausage mixture, rolled in bread crumbs, then deep-fried. The Nutrition Police are more apt to approve the eggs with a substitution of turkey sausage.

Then, too, I prefer to bake the eggs because deep-frying is too expensive and messy, not to mention caloric.

Scotch eggs may be found in some of Britain's more elaborate pubs, or the eggs served at home make a fine brunch dish ...
