''Independence Day'' hit theaters Tuesday and with themes of patriotism and valor (plus cool alien ships) it is the movie of choice for celebrating the July 4 holiday.
The $70-million-plus, high-tech, aliens-are-coming, comedy-thriller stars Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum as the lead alien fighters. It also stars some of the best movie magic to come along since ''Star Wars'' first knocked our socks off.
Post movie critic Craig Kopp saw ''Independence Day'' and pronounced it ''the movie that will annihilate the competition.'' Impressed, he gave it an A.
