COLUMBUS -- Ohio's air is getting cleaner - and at an increasingly rapid rate.
Sulfur dioxide pollution dropped 34 percent last year over 1994, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency said in its annual report issued Wednesday.
The decline was hailed by organizations as diverse as American Electric Power and the Campaign for an Energy Efficient Ohio.
While sulfur dioxide levels have dropped steadily in Ohio since the federal Clear Air Act was enacted two decades ago, last year's decline - driven by the latest wave of rules in the act - was the most dramatic.
