A few minutes before the noontime opening of Minnesota's 2000 duck season, Tony Soderman raised his binoculars and scanned the vast waters of Lake Christina looking for ducks.
An avid waterfowler, Soderman's anticipation was flying high.
Another opening day. Another hunting season. Tradition.
For generations, the Soderman family has occupied a duck hunting shack on the shores of Lake Christina. As a youngster, this was the birthplace of his love of ducks and decoys.
Now, decades later, the eyes of a veteran duck hunter were peering over the waters of Christina.
