Human Genome Sciences, Inc. (Rockville, MD; 301-309-8504) announced that Schering-Plough Corporation (Madison, NJ) has exercised one of its product option rights to develop and commercialize a novel type of interferon discovered by Human Genome. This novel protein has potential therapeutic applications autoimmune and infectious diseases and cancer.
In July 1996, Human Genome granted an option to Schering-Plough for the development and commercialization of two of Human Genome's therapeutic proteins as part of a therapeutic collaboration and license agreement.
