Thirteen-year-old Emmy Rossum's career is just beginning, and it's already heading South--of the Mason-Dixon line, that is. Perfectly cast as a sweet-singing hillbilly in this month's Songcatcher, the actress spent twenty-eight days in the North Carolina mountains with co-stars Aidan Quinn and Janet McTeer, mastering Appalachian ballads. "The rhythm, accent and style were really difficult," Emmy says. "But because I'd trained to sing in different languages at the opera, I saw it as a challenge."
