My student-teaching supervision has taken me to numerous school districts in Texas and New Mexico, and I have noticed that many schools have aquatics facilities on campus or have access to such facilities close enough for use by physical education classes. In several of the general high school physical education classes that I have visited, I have seen students participating in aquatic activities, but not in structured aquatics lessons that were part of a semester curriculum.
