The Army needs to conduct a logistics transformation, not just buy lighter armored vehicles, to improve its ability to rapidly deploy to respond to crises worldwide, according to Vice Chief of Staff Gen. John Keane.
"To transform the Army in terms of its strategic responsiveness, we not only have to change the dynamics of our material acquisition of vehicles, but we have to change our logistics," he told reporters during a Defense Writers Group breakfast on Tuesday.
Keane noted that only a small portion of the equipment and material the Army must take with it on a deployment is actual combat vehicles.
