When someone orders a pizza with green peppers, I just pick the pieces of pepper off. Watching "What Women Want," I found myself wishing I could do the same thing with Helen Hunt.
It's a pretty enjoyable movie, marred by the taste and texture of Hunt. She's a beautiful, intelligent woman, and she did swell work with Haley Joel Osment in "Pay It Forward." But, in the wrong role, Hunt comes off brittle and machinelike (someone here calls her "adorable," and even her biggest fans will probably agree that it's exactly the wrong word to describe Hunt). It's as if she's an alien who has studied us carefully for years so she can pull off a simulation of being human.
