KNIGHT-RIDDER, INC. AGREES TO PURCHASE DIALOG INFORMATION
SERVICES, INC. FROM LOCKHEED CORP. FOR $353 MILLION
MIAMI, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Knight-Ridder, Inc. (NYSE: KRI) today announced it has agreed to purchase Dialog Information Services, Inc. from Lockheed Corp. (NYSE: LK) for $353 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter.
Dialog is the world's most extensive electronic information retrieval company. It offers data from over 320 data bases for access by more than 91,000 subscribers in 86 countries. For the year ending 1987, Dialog had revenues of $98.1 million and income of $9.2 million.
