Participation in physical activity during adolescence may sow the seeds of an active lifestyle that will confer health benefits over the entire life span. However, involvement in physical activity declines sharply at adolescence. This article examines the potential impact of social physique anxiety on behavior and physical activity settings.
Adolescents can derive many benefits from participation in physical activity, including enjoyment, fitness, skill development, and social interaction.
