Car accidents in Korea last year cost 8.1 trillion won, reaching ten percent of the nation's one year budget.
One person was dead or injured by car accidents every one minute and 16 seconds, costing an average of 11.64 million won.
According to the Road Traffic Safety Authority yesterday, among 8.1 trillion won, the amount of human losses caused by car accidents took up the largest portion with as much as 4.8 trillion won, followed by material loss like car loss with 2.62 trillion and 670 billion won spent in mobilizing traffic police and other authorities.
