Article: Salvage operation moves step closer for Lagik.

M2 PRESSWIRE-22 December 2000-UK Government: Salvage operation moves step closer for Lagik (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

RDATE:22122000

A partnership between Fenland District Council and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency has moved the 'Lagik' salvage operation a step closer. The two organisations are hoping to appoint a salvage contractor before Christmas to push ahead with the work of removing the stranded vessel in the River Nene at Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire.

This follows a number of problems in identifying the exact owners of the German vessel and their reluctance to take responsibility for removing it.
