SUFFOLK -- The City Council appears ready to hit the brakes again on a controversial growth-control plan.
After hearing many complaints from a standing-room-only crowd at a public hearing on Wednesday, several council members said Thursday that a planned council vote may need to be postponed to give them and the public more time to consider the proposal.
The growth plan, called a unified development ordinance, would limit the number of houses that can be built and set stricter standards for development. A final draft of the plan will be available by July 9, Assistant City Manager Steve Herbert said. That's ...
