NORFOLK -- The only woman arrested in a recent federal drug raid, Melody D. Fludd, sobbed as she was handcuffed Tuesday afternoon in federal court and led back into detention.
She left behind her hope of returning to her five children - including a 3-year-old son - as she awaits trial on charges of distributing heroin in Hampton Roads, her attorney told the magistrate judge.
Fludd, 40, of Virginia Beach, is one of six people indicted in late June for allegedly running a major heroin organization out of Virginia Beach, supplying thousands of bags, or doses, of heroin around the area since 1994.
