THERE ARE NO angels in Erick Zonca's ``The Dream Life of Angels.''
Indeed, the fallibility and low-life humanity of the two central characters are the factors that give this melodrama its ring of truth. The French film, which garnered a justifiable twin award for its two lead actresses at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, does something that few Hollywood films are willing to attempt - examine the friendship between two women. This, in effect, is a buddy film about women - ``Thelma and Louise'' without the explosives.
