DOESN'T A PLACE called Iceland sound good about now?
Known as ``The Land of Fire and Ice,'' because of its geysers and glaciers, the tiny island nation is still a lot less fiery than Hampton Roads has been recently.
While not exactly your typical tourist spot, Iceland is not out of the way. Sitting in the middle of the North Atlantic, it's about a five-hour flight away from Baltimore/Washington International and other airports on the U.S. East Coast. From Halifax and other airports in Eastern Canada, it's about a four-hour trip.
