SITTING ON the soft sand 40 blocks north and seemingly worlds away from the Virginia Beach resort area, Hilary Saunders is on a mission to find dolphins.
They're more than 100 yards out in the Atlantic, but to this girl's trained eye, the gray fins are as easy to spot as the ships leaving Little Creek. No binoculars needed.
Just good eyes and plenty of patience.
With her feet sunk in the white sand, Hilary eyes the calm surf and imagines herself 1,000 miles south at her favorite place: the Dolphin Research Center in the Florida Keys.
