Slept on the floor twice this week. To beat the heat.
Or try to, that is. It was cooler down there, somehow.
And another thing, sleeping on the floor cut the odds considerably that I'd fall on the floor from out of the bed. Which also happened recently.
Just as it used to do long ago, in childhood.
Back there, thrashing around in a nightmare, you'd fall out of bed and, because you fell like a feather, go right on sleeping when you floated to the floor.
Not so as a grownup. One lands KA-BLAM, at the start of a series of falls in one, a swift concatenation of 'em, first slamming down across the shoulders, then flat on the back, ...
