FROSTBURG, MD. -- When Brian Mitchell entered the NFL nine years ago, hot-shot rookies were warned not to take advice from veterans who played the same position. The guy whose job he was competing for might counsel an overwhelmed newcomer to run left when the play was designed to go right.
``I made up my mind never to be that way,'' Mitchell said. ``You don't fear competition. You welcome it.''
